How do additional costs arise when booking a rental car?

Modified on Tue, 21 Nov, 2023 at 9:22 AM

Depending on your company's agreement with Intertours, when renting a rental car, the costs will be charged directly to your company credit card or that of the traveler by the respective rental company, or Intertours will issue a voucher to cover the costs to the rental car company.

This voucher as well as the booking itself contain the conditions agreed by your company (insurance packages/additional driver/company rate).

Often, local car rentals try to offer additional options such as upgrades or insurance that are not included in the scope of the rental. If travelers decide (knowingly or unknowingly) to book the services offered, these extras booked on site can significantly increase the total bill.

After the rent and handing over the vehicle, Intertours receives information from the rental car company about the actual scope of the rental. The process will be checked and the rental will be charged further according to the debit and information provided by the rental car company.

On our receipt you will find all rental information such as:

  • Date of rental
  • rental time
  • Pick up and drop off station
  • VAT on domestic rentals
  • booked additional services under comments

There is no separate receipt from the rental car company.

We recommend clarifying in advance which services are actually required and informing your company's travelers about the agreed conditions for rental car bookings as well as communicating clear regulations within the company regarding extras booked on site. This ensures transparency and increased bills for rental car bookings can be avoided.
