Rental car booking process

In the example we would like to rent a compact class rental car with automatic transmission and air conditioning at Frankfurt Airport.

Attention: Delivery and collection at a defined location are currently NOT possible. The car must be picked up by the driver himself at a station.

How do I find suitable rental car stations?

GTP auto search is powered by Google.

When you enter a location, a drop-down list of suggestions, ranked by relevance, appears.

Notice the icons next to the suggested locations.

If you are a bit more specific in your search, the teardrop symbol shows various smaller locations that are related to the term you are looking for. Hotels are marked with a skyscraper symbol.

Click on the corresponding value or press the "Tab key" if it is the correct result.

The map shows you graphically where the individual stations are located.

How can I search for a specific car rental company?

You have the option of selecting the provider you want when you first enter your search.

Alternatively, the available providers with the cheapest price offer are displayed on the results page and you can select or deselect them by clicking on them.

How can I filter and sort the rental car search results?

In order to adjust the desired results, the vehicle offers can be sorted and filtered directly on the booking level.

Can the pick-up and drop-off locations differ?

Normally the pick-up and drop-off locations for cars are identical. If you would like to drop off the rental vehicle at a different location, you must check the "Drop-off at a different location" box.

For example, if the traveler wants to pick up the rental car at Chicago O'Hare International Airport, have the car for the duration of their stay, and then return it to the airport before departure, they can go straight to entering the date.

One-way rental:

However, if you want the car to be returned to a different location, check the "Drop-off at a different location" box. This will bring up a new drop-off location field. In this field, enter the location where the rental car is to be dropped off.

In this example, the traveler can pick up their car at ORD and drop it off at a location outside the airport of their choice in South Bend, IN, USA.

What do the abbreviations behind the rental car types mean?

The abbreviation after the vehicle type provides more detailed information about the vehicle type and any included equipment

How do I cancel my rental car booking?

The cancellation process is the same both in the Trip Cart (before booking) and after the booking has been made. You go over the trash can symbol if you want to cancel individual services or over the three dots if you want to cancel the entire trip.

If a booked service is cancelled, you will receive a confirmation email after successful cancellation.

How do I extend my rental car rental?

Technically, an extension is not possible. Before you travel, the easiest way is to cancel the existing booking and book the car for the new dates.

As soon as it is foreseeable that you will be late with the current rental, it is always advisable to contact the local station directly by telephone.
