In the best case, the time change is known weeks or days before departure and the airline informs Intertours with a request for confirmation of the new times. Information is then sent to you with the following options:
Option 1 - Accept the time change:
The time change is fine with you and you give Intertours your written “OK”. Intertours accepts the time change with the booked airline and sends you an updated confirmation with the current times.
Option 2 - rejection of time change:
If you as a customer do not agree, Intertours will first check the alternative flights for you. Ideally, there is another flight with the booked airline at another alternative departure time (date/time), which is more suitable and the airline will rebook you on this flight free of charge, provided availability is given. A rebooking to another airline (outside the airline group/alliance) is not possible.
If the above variant is not possible, you can cancel the flight and request a refund of the flight price. Attention: With many airlines, this only applies if the flight time changes by at least 2 hours!
You can then weigh up whether a complete cancellation makes sense or whether you just want to cancel the changed flight (outbound or return flight) that does not fit.
- However, it should be clarified beforehand whether other flights from other airlines would be a better alternative (times, but also the current price at which the other airline would have to be booked).
- In most cases, if there is a serious time change shortly before departure, canceling the booked flights and re-booking a different connection/airline is a bad option in terms of price or availability.
